Concrete is a stone-like material obtained by permitting a carefully proportioned mixture of cement, sand, gravel, or other aggregate, and water to harden in forms of the shape and dimensions of the desired structure.

Advantages of Concrete

  1. It has a high compressive strength.
  2. It is low cost comparatively.
  3. It is durable and sustainable.
  4. Any desirable shape can be made of it.
  5. The raw materials are countrywide.
  6. It is not burnt at a normal temperature.
  7. It is free from corrosion, and there is no appreciable effect of atmospheric agents on it.

Disadvantages of concrete

  1. It has less tensile strength.
  2. It is difficult to control it.
  3. Due to the initial setting time, it can not be used until it hardens.
  4. Because of having less tensile strength, steel is so preferable.
