Concrete is a stone-like material obtained by permitting a carefully proportioned mixture of cement, sand, gravel, or other aggregate, and water to harden in forms of the shape and dimensions of the desired structure.
Advantages of Concrete
- It has a high compressive strength.
- It is low cost comparatively.
- It is durable and sustainable.
- Any desirable shape can be made of it.
- The raw materials are countrywide.
- It is not burnt at a normal temperature.
- It is free from corrosion, and there is no appreciable effect of atmospheric agents on it.

Disadvantages of concrete
- It has less tensile strength.
- It is difficult to control it.
- Due to the initial setting time, it can not be used until it hardens.
- Because of having less tensile strength, steel is so preferable.
