  1. Unsoiling
  2. Digging.
  3. Weathering.
  4. Blending.
  5. Tempering.
Unsoiling :-
Top layer of earth thrown away(about 200mm in depth).
Why unsoiling is remove?
  1. To remove organic matter.
  2. To remove stone,brick particles.
Digging :-
The clay is dug out and spread out the ground.
 
Weathering :-
The clay is exposed to weather for few weeks.
Blending :-
Homogeneous mixing of clay with or without additional ingredients in knows as blending.
Tempering :-
The clay is brought to a proper duty of hardness by kneading and made suitable for moulding.
